ReNeuron is a leading player in the stem cell field, using human somatic stem cells to develop leading edge therapies for neurodegenerative and other diseases. We are also leveraging our stem cell technologies into non-therapeutic areas such as drug discovery - our ReNcell product.

We have proprietary stem cell technologies which we believe confer significant advantages over competitor technologies, in terms of our ability to generate stable cell lines with the characteristics necessary for commercial exploitation.

We are moving towards clinical development of our lead neural stem cell line as a potential stem cell transplantation treatment for stroke. We have also broadened our product pipeline by initiating programmes to develop stem cell therapies for Type 1 diabetes, Parkinson's disease and diseases of the retina.

ReNeuron was founded in 1997 to commercialise technology discovered by its founding scientists working at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London.

Initial and early funding for ReNeuron was provided by Merlin Biosciences, the UK biotechnology investors. The Company floated on AIM in November 2000, raising approximately £21.5 million before expenses. In May 2003, ReNeuron was re-acquired, via an acquisition vehicle for the purpose, by a consortium of funds managed by Merlin.

We currently employ around 20 staff, including 8 PhD's, with many year's combined experience in stem cell research and development. ReNeuron operates from state-of-the-art laboratories in Guildford, Surrey, UK, which are fitted out to meet the stringent requirements of the regulatory authorities for cell therapy products.
