Description (Web site quote):
The Company’s core focus is the development of novel drugs to treat cancer. Rational drug design was utilised to develop our first drug candidate - GLI005 - targeting a typically fatal infant and chidren's solid tumour called neuroblastoma, and multidrug resistance (MDR), a major cause of chemotherapy failure. GLI005 is a selective inhibitor of a protein kinase enzyme known as PKC-alpha.

The Company’s core research platform on gap junction intercellular communication (GJIC) and cancer has led a valuable suite of cell-based assays and models readily suited to near-term commercialization. PharmaGap’s researchers developed these products as a consequence of needing to construct unique and innovative cellular and biological systems to study GJIC. It is PharmaGap’s belief that these innovative and proprietary products meet large unmet needs in very important markets.

PharmaGap is pursuing a diversified business model that has both: (1) a near-term revenue and licensing component through commercialization of our proprietary cell-based assays and models and (2) a longer term strategy to develop the core drug development platform through collaboration and licensing with major biotech or pharmaceutical companies.

PharmaGap’s strategy to pursue collaboration with major biotech or pharmaceutical companies is two-fold: (1) PharmaGap will seek direct collaboration for its lead drug candidate (GLI005) targeting neuroblastoma and MDR and (2) PharmaGap will offer to license its PKC-alpha inhibitory technology.
