Celmed BioSciences Inc. is a private Canadian biopharmaceutical company developing breakthrough products to treat cancer.



The Company applies rational drug design and pharmacogenomic concepts to improve cancer patient care, an approach that offers significant potential both in terms of efficacy and safety to the patient. Celmed's two lead products, Theralux™ and NB1011, are currently in Phase I/II clinical development. Theralux™, a photodynamic-based therapy, is being evaluated in three therapeutic areas: the prevention of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), the treatment of autoimmune diseases by extracorporeal photochemotherapy (ECP) and the eradication of cancerous cells from bone marrow transplants in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). NB1011, a "Trojan horse solution" to treat cancer, exploits the over-expression of the thymidylate synthase (TS) enzyme to destroy cancer cells. Celmed is currently planning a second Phase I/II study in various types of solid tumor cancers exhibiting high levels of TS, such as colorectal, lung, ovarian and breast cancer.
